The Machine
The MacBook Pro M5 is the computer that removed every excuse I had for not getting work done anywhere. Battery life that outlasts most travel days, a display that makes every other laptop screen look like a rough draft, and performance that handles anything creative work can throw at it without breaking a sweat.
The Performance
The M5 chip continues Apple Silicon's streak of making the previous generation feel slow by comparison. Video rendering, large Figma files, running multiple demanding apps simultaneously — none of it registers as effort. The thermal management means it stays cool and quiet under loads that would have a comparable Intel machine sounding like a jet engine.
The Display
The Liquid Retina XDR display is the part that's hardest to go back from. ProMotion at 120hz, extreme brightness for HDR content, and color accuracy that holds up against dedicated monitors. For photo and video work especially, what you see on screen is what you get — which matters more than any spec sheet number.
The Build
Unibody aluminum that feels like a single object rather than an assembled product. The keyboard is the best Apple has shipped in years and the port selection finally makes sense — HDMI, SD card, MagSafe, and three Thunderbolt 4 ports cover most workflows without a dongle in sight.
The Verdict
The computer I'd buy again without hesitation. If you're doing serious creative work and you're not on Apple Silicon yet, this is the upgrade that makes everything else feel like it's running faster too.
